Here was another fun birthday cake. My son was really into Hot Wheels cars at the time and wanted a 3-D cake for his birthday. Here it is! This cake was made using 3 single layer 9×13 sheet cakes, one chocolate, one vanilla, and one strawberry.
A picture of the other side. Driver’s side door. Can you see the mesh netting to help keep the driver in the car or the hatches on the roof? This is not just a Hot wheels car, this is a race car. I liked the Good Year on the tires too. The details make it cooler looking.
The back of the car. You cannot see it very well in this picture, but if you look at one of the side views you will see a spoiler. The spoiler was the hardest part of the whole cake. It fell off twice and I had to keep reattaching it with tooth picks! It was too heavy to stick out like it did with no support underneath it. But at least it made it til party time.
Birthday boy blowing out the candle. One of the main reasons I do cake decorating. He’s all grown-up and moved out now. However, I sure enjoyed spoiling him with love when he was small and making memories we’ll have for years to come.
In the tradition of our family. The birthday boy cuts the first piece. This cake should serve about 65 people. Though it looks as if I let the birthday boy serve the cake we might get about 12 pieces if were lucky! It’s a good thing he only cuts the first piece.
